A charming British vintage toy from the 1930s.
The Gyro-Cycle was invented by a famous airplane designer, Hubert Charles Henry Townend in 1936. It has been designed with an ingenious built-in gyroscope in the front wheel which, when spun, enables the little cyclist to pedal around the room. The pedalling motion is driven by a rubber band from the rear wheel.
This is a pre-loved vintage 1930s toy, in good condition, with a few oil marks from excessive play and a small dent in the back of the cyclists head. This charming chap would make a fantastic project for a toy collector.
Does not include the original pull string or rubber band.
Made from lithographed tin wheels, pressed steel frame, celluloid body and cloth arms.
